Review: The Keeper and the Rulership

The Keeper and The Rulership

By: Emily Sorensen

Synopsis:

In a world where both magic and mathematics are forbidden, Raneh is growing magic and she can't seem to stop. She'll face the death penalty if anybody catches her, so she hides it in the weeds of her family's land, pretending to be a typical eighteen-year old heir. And it works.

Until the Ruler comes to visit.

Review:

In a dystopian world where strict rules are set we have Raneh who is, in my opinion, set into a very strange family. She seems like the black sheep, and a good black sheep at that. Her sister is very spoiled and super whiny. Her brother is lazy and a glutton. And her parents and grandparents bend over backwards for them. If they were my kids…shoooowee…they’d be set straight. Raneh… I have to give her credit. Just reading about how her family acts is exhausting, I can’t imagine living it.
But, Raneh has secret…she’s magical. That might be really freaking cool to some, but not in the Rulership. In the Rulership if you renounce your status to be a magician, it is highly frowned upon. Poor Raneh is trapped. She’s stuck keeping this massive secret, all while being pressured by her entire family to find a husband. What’s a girl to do?

Every day it is harder for Raneh to keep her magic in check. It’s getting stronger and stronger every minute and she has no way of knowing how to handle it? Who do you trust when the penalty is death?

Raneh thinks she’s got some semblance of a plan forming until one day, who shows up at her door? ... The Ruler herself.

And when The Ruler shows up, trouble usually follows…

This story is so intricate. You really feel like you’re
transported into another world. It’s the first of a trilogy and is available now on Amazon!!
