Review : Black Hearts

Black Hearts

By: Karina Halle

Blurb:

For Vicente Bernal, the truth is all he's known. The son of an infamous drug lord, Vicente was born to help run the family business, which means he's been raised on a throne of sordid pasts and dirty laundry, violence and pride. But when Vicente stumbles across someone he's not supposed to know about -- a woman from his father's checkered past -- he sets out to California to find her behind his father's back.

What Vicente doesn't expect to find in San Francisco is Violet McQueen, the woman's twenty-year old daughter. Beautiful and edgy with a vulnerability he can't resist, Violet temps Vicente from afar and though he promised himself he'd stay away from her, curiosity and lust are powerful forces. Besides, Vicente has always gotten everything he wants -- why shouldn't he have Violet too?

Soon his wants turn into an obsession, one that sweeps Violet into his games as they fall madly, deeply in love with each other, the type of first love that can drive a person mad.

But it's a love with tragic consequences.

Both the truth -- and the lies -- not only threaten to tear them apart, but threaten their very lives.

Someone has to pay for the sins of the fathers.

And they'll be paying the price with their souls.

NOTE: BLACK HEARTS is BOOK ONE of the SINS DUET, with the sequel & conclusion, DIRTY SOULS, releasing on March 17, 2017.

Review:

I was so stupid excited for this book to come out. I love Karina’s books so much. This one did NOT disappoint. It was dark, sexy, sultry, action packed, and pretty damn realistic.

I will start this out by saying that Black Hearts is a STAND ALONE duet. Although it is a spin-off of The Artist Trilogy and Dirty Angels, you do NOT have to read those first to enjoy this novel. I have not read those two series’ yet, but after reading Black Hearts I sure plan on it.

Violet and Vicente are one hot and steamy couple.

Violet is a touch girl who lives in San Francisco with her parents, the infamous Ellie and Camden McQueen (from the Artist Trilogy). But she’s thrown through a loop when a sexy Mexican man comes and swoops her off of her feet.

Vicente...shoo-wee! That man. He is really something. Gorgeous, smooth, and ripped. The perfect bad boy. Son of the head honcho of one of the most powerful drug Cartels in Mexico, Javier Bernal. He knows what he’s doing.

He came to America for one purpose only. To kill Ellie McQueen and her family for what she put his father through all those years ago. Using Violet to get to Ellie seemed like the perfect plan. Until he fell deeply in love with her.

This book was so freaking fantastic, I read it in about five hours and I’m still thirsty for more. Vicente is beautiful! He’s the perfect bad boy (Did I already say that?). I can’t get him out of my head.

I can’t wait to see what else Karina has in store for us with the next installment to this freaking awesome duet. It can’t come soon enough.

In the meantime, excuse me while I dive into the past to learn about Ellie and Javier. From the tid-bits I read about in Black Hearts, I already know I’m in for a treat.

Black Hearts is available NOW so please...don’t hesitate to one-click this one.
