Spotlight Sunday : K. Webster

Spotlight Sunday

K. Webster

Welcome to another Spotlight Sunday! This week I wanted to share the darker side of Shades. We love all genres, but this one has to be one of our favorites here.. Dark Romance.

One of our favorite Dark Romance authors has to be K. Webster. She's got it going on. Taboo, erotic, thrilling, dark.
She also writes a little from different genres! Kind of a Jack of all trades.

So let's meet the woman behind the words, shall we?...

Q: What is your name?
A: K Webster

Q: What is the genre that you write?
A: All of them lol.

Q: Where do you live? (You don’t have to be specific)
A: Oklahoma.

Q: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
A: I like to write terrible things that you someone forgive me for.

Q: What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?
A: I don’t really spend money.  I blow through computers like nobody’s business so probably each time I get a newer, faster computer.

Q: What authors did you dislike at first but grew into?
A: I tend to like everyone when I meet them.  So far anyway!

Q: Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?
A: I zone out completely when I write.  I don’t know that it’s spiritual or more of the fact that I completely shut myself out from the world.

Q: How long, on average, does it take you to write a book?
A: The Wild took me a week.  Dirty Ugly Toy took me three.  Usually somewhere in between that.

Q: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
A: I throw in childhood stories all the time that only my mom and sisters catch.

Q: What’s the difference between erotic fiction and porn? Do you think readers get it mixed up? What about romance and erotica?
A: Well, I watch a lot of porn.  Most of it is cheesy.  All the erotica I read is not, not cheesy.  So writers are more creative with the sex than actual porn.

Q: What was your hardest scene to write?
A: When I had to kill a character I knew everyone would love.  I cried.  They wanted to kill ME after they read it.

Q: How do you go about writing a good sex scene?
A:  I just dive in.  They’re my favorite!

Q: Why do you think sex sells in the book world?
A:  Because we all secretly love it and crave more of it, I suppose.

Q: What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A: Writing from the opposite sex is more fun for me than writing the same sex.  In the beginning, it was hard not making them sound poetic like females.  My hubs was instrumental in ironing down my male POV.

Q: What is the most erotic scene you’ve ever written?
A: My most favorite erotic scene ever written was between Sheriff and Mandy in Bad Bad Bad when he’s fighting between wrong and right but ultimately chooses wrong.

Q: What are common traps for aspiring writers?
A: I think people fall into traps of doing what everyone else is doing.  You gotta just do your own thing so you stand out.

Q: Do you think a big ego helps or hurts writers?
A: Hurts.  Definitely hurts.  Turns people off.

Q: What is your writing Kryptonite?
A:  I need absolute quiet to get in my zone so basically summer time is anything but with the kids home.  My kids are the reason I get nothing done lol.

Q: What is your advice to Indie Authors? On writing? Marketing?
A: Write, write, write!  I write continuously and publish often.  It’s a way to constantly have your name out there.

Upcoming Release:

Synopsis:
I brought them to the wilderness because we couldn’t cope with our reality.
The plan was to make a new life that didn’t include heartache.
No people. No technology. No interference.
Just us.
A chance to piece together what was broken.
But the wilderness is untamed and harsh.
Brutal and unforgiving.
It doesn’t give a damn about your feelings.
Tragedy lives there too.
No escaping the truths that won’t let you go.
All you can do is survive where love, no matter how beastly, is the only thing you can truly count on.
Confusing. Wrong. Twisted. Beautiful. Sick.
Love is wild.
And we’re going to set it free.

WARNING:
The Wild is an extremely taboo story. Most will find that the themes in this book will make you incredibly uncomfortable or maybe even offend you. This book is only for the brave, the open-minded, and the ones who crave love in even the most dismal of situations. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to heavy taboo themes, then this story is not for you.
Seriously, you’ve been warned.
Don’t say I didn’t try.
You’re probably going to cringe many, many, many times.
Even if you’re on the fence, it’s probably not a good idea to proceed.
However, if you’re intrigued and fearless and kind of sort of trust me, then carry on. This book is for you.

Some Of My Personal Favorites:

Synopsis:
Her time is over.
Things are looking up.

She’s dirty and ugly.
He’s wicked but handsome.

Six months to toy with her.
Six months of vacation and a ton of money.

I’ll hurt her beyond repair.
I’ve been through much worse.

She's difficult to control and doesn't obey.
I'm done submitting to anyone or anything in this life.

I should hate her.
I should hate him.

The game has changed.
I will win.

Dirty Ugly Toy is a novel that blurs the lines of right and wrong, deals with abuse, contains dubious consent, and adult subject matter. If you are sensitive to violent sexual situations, the book may not be suitable for you. Some parts of this book are not easy to read and are not intended for everyone. However, those that keep an open mind and stick with it will not be disappointed.

Synopsis:
***THIS STANDALONE IS BEST ENJOYED WHEN YOU DON'T READ ANY REVIEWS OR SPOILERS BEFORE READING. GOING IN BLIND IS BEST. TRUST ME.***

When my eyes are closed, the monster can’t see me.
When I sing a song in my head, the monster can’t hear me.
When I pretend my bedroom is a playground where I play hide-and-seek, the monster can’t find me.
The darkness should frighten me.
I should worry I’ll find more monsters…monsters scarier than him.
But I’m not afraid.
It’s safe here.
When I’m inside of my head…
He. Can’t. Ever. Touch. Me.

Warning:
Whispers and the Roars is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. The abuse written in this story is graphic and not glossed over, which could be upsetting to some. This story is NOT for everyone. Proceed with caution.

Synopsis:
Benny loves his pretty little dolls.
As long as they do exactly as they're told.
He keeps them perfect by brushing their hair
and gives them pretty dresses to wear.
He likes to toy with them late at night.
One so timid but the other likes to fight.
When his favorite doll runs away...
despite the other doll promising to stay,
his heart becomes broken and he can't help but cry.
He wants her back home or his pretty little doll must die.

Have you ever had to make a decision that haunts you every single day for the rest of your life...the life you stole back?
I have.
I ran for my survival, rocks and twigs cutting into the soles of my feet, my lungs burning and screaming for rest, every muscle tensed and fighting along with me for existence.
I left her.
I ran, ran, ran--from Benny and his lone, pretty little doll--until I couldn't remember where to find them again.
I'm sorry.

Synopsis:
Ex-convict turned preacher. Bad girl with a messy past. He’s tasked with helping her find her way. She’s lost in grief and self-doubt. Together they begin something innocent… Until it’s not. His freedom is at risk. Her heart won’t survive another break. All rational thinking says they should stay away from each other. But neither are very good at following the rules. A deep, dark craving. An overwhelming need. A burn much hotter than any hell they could ever be condemned to. They have much to be forgiven for...
***Warning: This is an insta-love TABOO romance novella. Only proceed if you can handle things outside the norm.***
