Quirky Blind Date With A Book : June

Quirky Blind Date With A Book

Dalysian Hope

By: Jamie Summer

I saw this group on Facebook called Quirky Blind Date With A Book. It’s a pretty neat group. You sign up for a surprise book based on your favorite genres. It gets sent to your kindle and then after you’re done, you review it. There are sign ups every month so that you’re not obligated to repeat the process every month if you don’t want to.
It’s basically a win win. You get a mystery book for free and the author gets a review!

This is my first month trying it out and I really enjoyed it. I chose fantasy, paranormal, fairy tale, that sort of stuff for my genres. So the book I got was Dalysian Hope by Jamie Summer.

Synopsis:

Book 1 in the Dalysia trilogy

One night can change everything.

For seventeen-year-old Sophie Evans life is completely average. And she likes it that way.

Until one night, her apartment is attacked. Out of nowhere, creatures climb through her windows with only one goal in mind: to kill her. Only with the help of two handsome strangers and her next-door-neighbor does she make it out alive.

While the immediate danger is gone, Sophie finds herself thrown into a world she didn’t even knew existed — dealing with powers she knows nothing about and a race counting on her to save them.

How can she be the only hope of a race she never even knew existed? When pressure threatens to suffocate her, can Sophie fight the odds stacked against her, or will she lose herself in the process?

Review:

I really enjoyed the story line. You don’t get to see that kind of a story line in books nowadays. It’s all about witches and wolves, never water and the elements. It reminded me a little bit of Harry Potter with all the creatures from the deep and how they interacted. That, and The Mortal Instruments series.

Although, I had a hard time staying focused. Jamie seemed to have a little too much detail for my liking. I kept getting lost in all the details of their surroundings and the explanations of their facial expressions and body language. I ended up skipping through that sometimes and just going to the conversations being had. Don’t get me wrong, detail is very important. But too much muddies it up a bit.
That aside, this story was great!! The characters were steamy, the danger felt real, the power in the book was enormous, and I loved the ending. A great way to set up for book two.

If you’re a fan of Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments, and Avatar, this book is definitely for you. It has all of those elements PLUS some!

Quirky Blind Date really delivered and I’m so glad I signed up. You guys should too! It was so much fun. But even if you don’t sign up and you want to read Dalysian Hope for yourself, go for it! It was a great read.
